By joining this list, you solemnly swear that you are NOT out to save the world.
I started the Be Slightly Evil email list in order to respond to the increasing demand on my blog, ribbonfarm.com, for morally dubious ideas for work, life and interpersonal relationships. Your afterlife and your ability to sleep at night are your problems.
The demand started in 2009 after I wrote the first of the Gervais Principle series of posts, about politicking and Machiavellian manipulation in the workplace, viewed through the lens of the show, The Office. The series got Slashdotted, and for a while, was threatening to take over my blog. So in early 2010, I decided to create this list to explore the Dark Side of business and life more thoroughly. The list is now at over 2200 subscribers, and I am working on putting together a compilation of past issues in book form. Look for it sometime in 2013.
On this list you will find cheap and slightly dirty tricks, discussions of slightly evil books and doses of schadenfreude. On occasion I will also offer dubious, speculative, and potentially stupid answers to questions from readers.
You can find past issues in the archives.
It is my personal belief that a little bit of evil, coupled with a good sense of humor, is the best innoculation against the temptations of true evil. If you lack a sense of humor, or have over-developed capacities for moral outrage, please do NOT subscribe to this list.
And of course, I won't be evil enough to sell your personal information to any third party.
